Cooler weather cruise to Norwegian Fjords

Our fifth cruise on Queen Mary 2. Decided to cruise in cooler climes although we do prefer the sun on our backs. The fjords were beautiful, especially enjoyed Flam and Bergen. The Flam railway was a must do! Everywhere so clean. Norway is very expensive as we expected and this was reflected in the price of excursions. However Cunard do price everything over the odds in our opinion. Do not buy Hop on Hop off bus tickets on the ship, these are a third as much again as on shore.
Food was very good in the Britannia restaurant and also in the refurbished Kings Court. We felt the new layout in the KC was good once you got used to it! The place hasn’t much character now however, seeming more like a canteen. The Carinthia Lounge is a big improvement on the old Winter Gardens. A very nice place to sit. Entertainment was excellent, particularly the Beatles Experience and Jacky Scott.
Stateroom was a sheltered balcony type which proved good on the day when we got a lot of rain. The room had new carpets, curtains and bed linen. The bathroom was exactly the same with a shower curtain. Do prefer a door on the shower. A very enjoyable week.
