We had a fantastic time aboard the QM2. The service from our private butler, waiting staff and bar staff was impeccable. Our queens grill suite was very roomy even though a little tired,however we were aware the ship was due a refit. The food was outstanding. My only criticism with the ship was the outside areas I.e pool areas, which had a lot of broken tiles and one of the pools was out of order the whole time we were on board.
The embarkation and disembarkation was absolute joke. After a 12 hour flight to Hong Kong, we cleared customers about 7.45am. We were then escorted to a hotel for 3 hour breakfast which we had just had on the flight. We were picked up at 11.00am by coach to the embarkation terminal. As we were in Queens grill suites we were advised in the brochure we had priority embarkation,so after arriving at the terminal we had another 2 hour wait. I then went to ask Cunard official what was happening as I had noticed that people had been embarking for an hour or so. We then discovered that they had forgotten to set up the priority boarding desk and were just calling passengers by deck, therefore from getting off the flight to getting on board the ship was 6.5 hours.
Upon disembarkation at the end of our holiday the exact same scenario happened and did not receive any priority disembarkation that we had paid for,therefore had another 3 hour wait once we had vacated our cabin.
Even though we had a fantastic holiday it did leave a bit of a bad taste for such a prestigious cruise line.
