Transatlantic to watch the Tennis
Julia Harris | September 17, 2018 | Cunard | Queen Mary 2
We decided to cruise transatlantic as we wanted to watch the US Open Tennis and it was a great way to get there no jet lag! Could have done with it on the way back as we were pretty exhausted after 2 weeks in the States!
I enjoyed it and we were happy with our inside cabin we slept very well every night – we had a cabin midships.
My partner didn’t really like the Casino as they wouldn’t arrange any Poker Tournaments – one of the reasons he likes to cruise – we always thought it might be too posh for us but it wasn’t although he doesn’t really have another jacket so ended up wearing his Tuxedo jacket in the restaurant. Although the food was very good in the Buffet I always feel you tend to put too much food on your plate.
The entertainment was very good although not sure what the American/Canadians/Germans thought of the Comedian from Liverpool! There were a couple of other musical acts that were very good – a Motown trio and a Soloist who could play different instruments.
We had mixed weather the first couple of days out of Southampton weren’t the best but it picked up as we crossed the Atlantic. We spotted porpoises following the ship and it was reported someone saw a Whale although we didn’t. We got a good price for the cruise with our flight home which we had tailor-made our holiday as we stayed about 2 weeks in the States _ NYC – DC – New Jersey Coast and flying out of Dulles
