WONDERFUL SHIP AND CRUISE ON QUEEN MARY 2
ALISON FARRAR | November 21, 2022 | Cunard | Queen Mary 2
We went to Tromso in Norway earlier this month. It is a while since we cruised on this ship. Although we enjoyed that occasion, this was far better : all the crew seemed so much friendlier which definitely made the atmosphere on board more relaxed and enjoyable.
Our balcony stateroom was spacious and comfortable. You wouldn’t want to sit out in the winter here, but it was lovely to go out and look around.
The food in the Britannia restaurant was excellent. Beautifully served and delicious. Afternoon tea in the Queen’s room was equally delightful- hard to avoid eating too much, it was so fresh and varied.
The buffet in Kings Court we didn’t visit often as it could get crowded and it’s such a pleasure to be waited on when on holiday.
The entertainment was first rate : a good choice of topics covered by the ‘Insights’ speakers. Michel Roux was particularly popular.
I enjoyed the indoor swimming pool, and the library. There was plenty of good music on board- especially James the concert pianist we enjoyed.
Daytimes at sea were full of options. We had quite rough weather, not that it felt like it on this ship. We had to miss Alesund and Stavanger, and instead went to Zeebrugge so people could visit Bruges, Ghent or elsewhere.
Bergen was our first stop. It was bucketing down with rain, so having been there many times before I decided to see Elvis the film on board.
Tromso was very special : we went to the Cathedral and had a beautiful
concert as well as a very entertaining talk from our guide.
Trondheim was also lovely.
At this point the Captain said it was too rough to continue in Norway, so off we went to Belgium.
I felt as though this cruise was a special occasion : it was a pleasure to get dressed up for dinner, and see all the other guests in their smart clothes. It may be regarded as sedate compared to other ships, but I absolutely loved it.
Everything on board seemed so well organised, we felt very well cared for. I would not hesitate to book another cruise with Cunard.
