Long weekend away on Queen Victoria, why not?
Chris Thompson | November 27, 2018 | Cunard | Queen Victoria
Having previously enjoyed both the QM2 and the Queen Elizabeth the opportunity to enjoy a cheeky long weekend on the Queen Victoria was too good to miss. Three nights in November short trip to Le Havre was just what the doctor ordered. The Q.V. is nominally smaller than the QE, hardly noticeable though. For such a short trip we opted for an inside stateroom which proved small but completely adequate, for longer trips my wife would want a balcony and I agree with her.
Entertainment was as expected, very good. The ship’s team of singers and dancers were brilliant, two lovely shows. An unexpected treat on a Saturday night was the 78-year-old Roy Walker of the comedians and catchphrase fame, he was amazing, like a fine wine.
Food in the Lido was spot on, surely something for everyone and enough to kill yourself. The food in the Brittania was also very good, service was okay, lacking personality, probably not expecting tips on a short trip.
There were lots of groups on board, all having a great time and bringing down the average age, which is nice, all seemed well behaved. Everyone seemed to embrace the dress code too (well nearly everyone).
A little cold to sunbathe, still, one or two braving the sun beds with many layers. Jacuzzis hot and doing a good trade.
Boarding and disembarking efficient.
The only complaint is the high drinks prices and the compulsory service charge, large glass of wines over £10.
Otherwise, a nice break, off again on QE in Jan so must be a Cunard fan?
