A mixed experience

A lovely ship, great public areas, but the cabin was never properly cleaned on the 9 days we were in the room.

Food is lovely but in the main dining room it is child-size portions. If you are taking a fussy eater like my 85-year-old mother it’s difficult as not much in the way of simple food. The fish was all unrecognisable apart from when we had Plaice one day.

Shows were excellent but little variety. Saw the same magician 3 times on a 9-day cruise, same comedian twice and then just the ship’s troop – who were very good.

Unfortunate in having the only unfriendly and unhelpful stewardess for our cabin after 9 years of cruising. The cabin needed a make over urgently – if that was superior I dread to think what standard looked like!

Assured by Bolsover Travel the cabin had a space for the wheelchair in front of the toilet as in P&O. Totally incorrect- we had to be moved, right next to the gangway in order to have a room where I could get the wheelchair in so there was no point in having paid to choose our cabin. No suitable excursions for the disabled unless you like sitting on a coach for several hours! (We did do the Tuk Tuk ride around Antwerp – fantastic – but why advertised as unsuitable for wheelchair use. I did like Fred Olsen but you need to be familiar with it to get the most from the ship – liked the size of it better than recent cruises on Cunard and Celebrity, but staff perhaps need more trading on Dementia awareness and disability.
