Mayan temples and Panama

I enjoyed the cruise but, like others, was annoyed that FO had cut out one destination, Roatan Island, Honduras, (which I had never been to) and substituted Bonaire (which I had been to many times) for it, and then cut out even Bonaire on the grounds that they couldn’t otherwise have done justice to the people who wanted to go on the Panama Canal excursion. So, they did not deliver what was advertised in the brochure. Having been to the Caribbean many times, I booked this cruise because I wanted to go somewhere fresh. I achieved that with the calls at Cozumel, Belize and Santa Marta, but would have liked to have had a chance to visit Roatan Island. Otherwise the cruise was enjoyable and the three new places were interesting. The weather was generally good though the sea was rougher than I’ve usually experienced at this time of the year (January to February). Cozumel island interested me because of the Mayan ruins at San Gervasio but the ones at Altun Ha in Belize were much more spectacular, so that visit, combined with a cruise up the River Belize made for a fascinating excursion. I enjoyed being on the Braemar again and the food was good and the accommodation was comfortable. Barry Keeton.
