John and Susan Fletcher | January 22, 2015 | Holland America Line | Eurodam
We flew from London, stayed one night in Fort Lauderdale hotel before joining the Eurodam the following day. The transfer from Miami airport to hotel was dreadful and took a little over 4 hours waiting for other incoming flights and then being taken to one other hotel in the opposite direction to ours – the transfer back to the airport after the cruise was better but not really acceptable!
The Eurodam was a well appointed and very pleasant ship, very similar in layout to Cunard’s Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth and the staff, mainly Indonesians, were marvellous. They were friendly, helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble to them! One of the best, if not the best, crew we have sailed with. The cabin was great and the inclusion of a bath was a real bonus to us giving the option of either a bath or shower. Our cabin steward, one of a team of mainly Philopino folk, was excellent and no complaints from us in any regards. The stops we made were good and trips seemed well organised although the one we took in Jamaica was annoying because of the constant pressure from everybody we met, including our tour guide, to buy or give tips was just very annoying and unwelcome.
The food on board was generally good although we would have preferred all our meals to be just a little hotter. The waiters were superb! We had an excellent table with four other guests, two Brits and two Americans and were constantly laughing and joking with each other! The entertainment around the ship, particularly the music, was first class and we much enjoyed the shows!
The shops were well appointed and the staff not too ‘pushy’.
We would not hesitate to take another cruise on this ship.
Thank you to all who made our holiday most enjoyable!
