Holland America
Denise Dearing | December 8, 2022 | Holland America Line | Noordam
We sailed from San Diego to Sydney 34 nights in total, it was the first cruise to Australia by HAL since Covid and we encountered one or two changes to ports of call due to Covid issues in the port or weather problems. The cruise itself was not up to its usual standards, the ship systems and general administrations were ill prepared. Staff worked very hard and were happy but we had limited supplies of alcohol due to the shipment missing the cruise sailing. The dress code has changed to dressy nights and formal attire was “optional”. Atmosphere was lost because of this unannounced change. The food in the specialist restaurant was good. The entertainment was average. The clients were mainly adults. There were plenty of sun beds available, embarkation and disembarkation worked well, but the app used during the cruise was poor. Information was via the app which was confusing and misleading. The communication between customer service staff and passengers was very poor. Very limited paper information was available (including port maps and access to towns/local access). The ship is medium in size and works well.
