Not so Splendida.

My wife and myself have just returned from our third cruise with MSC, this time, around the Med from Genoa and returning to Genoa. The weather was great, the ship was to the usual MSC standard but !!!! 4000 Italians in one small place, it was absolute bedlam. Smoking any where, despite the cruise line threatening 70 euro fines, kids peeing in the pool from the side, the buffet area can only cope with about 350 at a time. Don’t expect to be able to leave your seat to get a drink and get it back, they’ll move your plate, bag and sit down. Not to mention barging through gaps, pushing in and not queueing.
I could go on, the other brits we met all said the same, it must be a cultural thing.
Embarkation was easy with no hold ups but when we got on and tried to register a credit card the machine didn’t work so we couldn’t register the card, they asked me to come back later, I made 4 attempts and about 3 hours at reception trying to sort it and then they removed our credit and cancelled the room access so back to reception again.
My wife lost clothing from the cabin, (no crew were interested) we think it went with the bedding.
Our non smoking cabin stank of cigars, they cleaned it twice to try and negate the smell but it didn’t make much of a difference.
P.S. Avoid the Tunis beach excursion, it’s like a landfill site, the camels and horses on the beach make a hell of a mess too.
Great to be home.
Won’t do this one again or go on the Splendida.
