Arcadia Cruise in August 2018

Arcadia is still a lovely ship, and although we love our grandchildren greatly, it is so nice to go on an Adult only ship when you go away on your own.

We first cruised on Arcadia in 2005, only 1 year after it was launched. Although there have been several changes since then, the food, service of all staff, and entertainment have always remained high.

Two years ago we tried Freedom Dining which worked well. As there were 4 of us, we usually had to take a pager to wait for a table of 4 in the restaurant. The average time we had to wait was between 15 and 20 minutes, which we considered quite acceptable. Unfortunately this year we found we were waiting up to 1 hour for our table, which we were not happy about. During the cruise, we completed a satisfaction survey and mentioned about the long waits for a table. After this, our problem was sorted, and we never had the long waits experience at the start of the holiday!

We also took advantage of the wine package, which provided a very good choice of wines and a good price.

Embarkation and disembarkation were excellent, much improved on previous years.

The only downside is if you have breakfast in The Belvedere restaurant. Sometimes it gets was busy, and you cannot find a suitable table. You can, of course, go down to the alternative restaurant to be served, but if you are on an early excursion, sometimes you need to be quicker.
