Caribbean No Fly
Geoff Kemp | May 23, 2019 | P&O Cruises | Arcadia
This was our 8th cruise and our 2nd booked with Bolsover notwithstanding we are a couple of English origin who have lived in Edinburgh for the last 20 years. Southampton is not therefore the most convenient site for the UKs premier cruise terminal.
This was a first in two respects. Our first cruise without the children and our first with P&O and an “adult only” cruise at that.
Booking with Bolsover was again both professional and seamless. Flying from Edinburgh to Southampton this time was not an option due to the amount of luggage required for a 23 night cruise so we decided to drive down to North Cheshire and pick up the Eavesway Coach Service from Knutsford Services. What a good decision that turned out to be.
Having most recent.y cruised with Royal Caribbean, we were very taken with the Britishness of P&O. That’s not to say everything was better but as a package we would definitely say we now prefer P&O.
This was of course a 23 night no fly Caribbean Cruise with plenty of sea days. The average age was apparently 67 whilst our own was 55. It appeared that we were in a minority of those under the average age and not regular P&O cruisers. Seems many return year after year but some just cannot stop moaning about how standards have slipped or how much better service on Cunard is. PLEASE, get a life! The staff work extremely hard to please, a lot harder than these moaners have ever worked in their life.
Don’t get me wrong, these people are comparatively few and non the less polite, but we could really done without it .
We loved Arcadia notwithstanding it is due for refit in 2013. We loved the attentive staff. We hope to cruise again with P&O very soon.
