Cruise leaving Southampton on 24th June
Dianne and Dennis Orme | July 22, 2019 | P&O Cruises | Arcadia
After over 300 nights of cruising, we have had some experience f cruising with P and O and I can honestly say that this cruise did not live up to our expectations or match previous experiences, at all.
The whole experience was shattering. We were not informed beforehand that we would be misssing the port of Messina and spent three days in Malaga whilst repairs were carried out on the propeller. We only found that out when we were on board. In addition to that the whole of the cruise was taken up with a major overhaul of the tenders and lifeboats resulting in the promenade deck being unavailable to passengers, with loud banging and filthy decks, bearing in mind that my husband has been diagnosed with Parkinsons disease he was hoping to have a stroll round the deck.. Two days into the cruise it was announced that a passenger had brought norovirus onto the ship. The norovirus was already present and resulted in many people being taken ill. It became so bad that passengers were being served by members of staff in the self service restaurant, and letters were sent out that no compensation would be paid. A few days before the end of the cruise the restrictions on self service were removed saying that everything was now o.k. On the third day after we returned home I had to visit my g.p.and have been confined to
the house ever since. It seemd to us the equivalent of booking a holiday abroad and finding the swimming pool under construction. It was like a building site. The beautiful arcadia it is now. The whole ship looked tired and shabby. Shortly before we were due to go on this cruise one of your operators telephoned to say we could have a balcony for any extra £200 each. Fortunately, I declined because no-one could use their balconies because of the noise.
