Cruising in the Baltic
Hugh & Tina Driskell | September 11, 2018 | P&O Cruises | Arcadia
Cruising the Baltic on Arcadia was our second cruise and the second time on Arcadia. It is a ship for adults only offering service that is a pleasure to experience. From the moment we stepped on board we felt looked after and the staff were interested in our well-being.
The cabin and balcony offered comfort and a quiet area of space to relax. The furniture had been upgraded since our last cruise in 2017.
We had chosen freedom dining for our evening meals; this meant were we not tied to a particular time but could choose when we wanted to eat. Usually, we had to wait for between 20 and 40 minutes but this gave time to relax in the piano bar with a cocktail before being called to a table. The menu in the Meridian restaurant was always varied and very good; the food was very enjoyable. The service to the table was usually quick and staff were keen to make the stay delightful.
The entertainment was excellent offering variety throughout the ship; the Headliners company in the theatre were brilliant.
The hydrotherapy pool is a bonus, my wife really enjoyed the effects – relaxes the body and takes away the stresses and strains of life. Other people using this facility agreed that it was a bonus as other ships didn’t have the facility.
The Belvedere restaurant could be crowded but with patience, everyone can get the meal of their choice and find a comfortable place to eat, most tables give excellent sea-views.
The cruise destinations offered interesting windows into the culture of the different nations. The highlight was St. Petersburg. When choosing a trip to try to get to the coaches as quickly as possible.
This was a lovely holiday; it was good value for money; we had wonderful weather. This is one cruise we will look to repeat.
