Easter Cruise to Venice
Peter Lomas | June 22, 2015 | P&O Cruises | Arcadia
Arcadia is not our favourite P&O ship but it’s growing on us. The cabins are excellent. The entertainment was very good with plenty of choice. Activities during the day were varied and fun, Dom Hones and his Name That Tune Quiz is an absolute hoot, did we miss him when he left for the Adonia. Both specialist restaurants are wonderful, the food and the service being top notch. Food in the main restaurant was erratic, we were on Freedom Dining and some nights I got an excellent meal while my wife’s was disappointing. The night after it was the other way around. I must say though the Steaks were all good. Plated meals doesn’t give you any choice of vegetables.
The refit of The Crows Nest is terrific, they just need to sort out those dull, boring, brown bars on decks 3 and 2. The ship does need a larger Cinema, the Screening Room is ok but needs to be larger. The system for leaving the ship at the end of the cruise was new to us and chaotic. We were asked to go to the Medina Restaurant Upper, it was jammed with passengers and those who couldn’t get in couldn’t hear the announcements. No one including the Staff knew what was happening. Total chaos leaving a bad feeling after a very good cruise. We were supposed to have Priority Departure, you have to be joking, it was every man for himself.
