Enjoyable but lacks the wow factor!
Linda Milson | May 3, 2014 | P&O Cruises | Arcadia
This was our first cruise on Arcadia though we have been on many other P and O ships. We had a suite which was very comfortable.Unfortunately after a few days into our 17 day cruise, our butler injured his foot and we ended up having two different butlers who were obviously stressed out managing their own suites as well as ours and many more!Canapes were repetitive and not very appetising.Got the impression they had been lying around in the kitchen for some time.Shows were good and we enjoyed Tom OConnor and the Beatles tribute.There.was musical revue based on New York but how come they never included the classic “New York New York”by Sinatra??As suite holders we were able to have breakfast in the Sindhu restaurant. The waitresses were miserable, though not impolite. On the last day we waited 30mins for coffee and the breakfast was. Cold and undercooked. Was it their way of telling us that now we were leaving, they did not have to bother so much?We had a fantastic table for two by the window in the restaurant and our waiters were very attentive though rushed off their feet.Meals were sometimes slow to arrive due to their work load.We mentioned this to the maitre d on the last night but we could tell he was just paying us lip service and wasn’t that concerned. As for the maitre ethics is the first cruise we have been on when he did not come round at some point and introduce himself!Bar staff very friendly particularly in the Rising Sun.Daytime activities were great and good fun.Thank you Christopher and Lauren particularly!Meals in the Belvedere were overall tasty and hot but when we went there for breakfast we found the fried eggs were dry and hard and the pots of kedgeree inedible! The lunches at Neptunes pool bar were really tasty-all made to order. We went there most days as the fried fish and burgers were really delicious. If a particular cruise was advertised that we wanted to go on and it was the Arcadia,I think we would go back but we much prefer Aurora Azura and Ventura for service and friendliness.
