Not back to pre covid levels

Just returned from a northern lights cruise on Arcadia. The good news is that we saw the lights on 2 separate evenings. The less good news is that the food in the main restaurant was very variable in standard. Individual dishes ranged from excellent to poor (e.g. dry fish and tough steak) in an unpredictable manner. To compound this one of the speciality restaurants (Sindhu) was closed and the other was fully booked and appeared to be working on a much reduced occupancy. We managed to dine in the Ocean Grill twice (excellent). Fewer than 20% of tables were occupied at any point during either visit. The Neptune grill was also closed throughout the cruise.
We did get an e mail shortly before embarkation to say that P&O were struggling with staffing levels, but it was far too late for us to change our minds.
All the staff were pleasant and helpful, but there just didn’t seem to be enough of them. There appeared to be far fewer waiters in the restaurants and they also had to double up as wine waiters meaning that wine orders could be taken quite late and the wine could arrive half way through the meal on occasion.
