Overview of my being a guest on 9 Sept. Arcadia cruise

Evening Dinners – Freedom Restaurant – were for the first few evenings repetitive, and insufficient for those with hearty appetites.

Entertainment: (Palladium)Overall: Entertaining. P&O’s resident performers were impressive but featured too often. A couple of visiting performers made a welcome change.

My accommodation: My single cabin was a major disappointment. Although I was asked if I would like a Queen size bed, and I agreed, when I entered my cabin my heart sank! The cabin was extremely small and the Queen size bed allowed me little room to move about. I have occupied single cabins on previous cruises, but this single cabin was dark and claustrophobic. Considering I paid almost ?œ2,200 for the cruise, I was sorely disappointed. I complained bitterly to the Accommodation Officer, and only when I made it clear that I would not be occupying that cabin did he relent and offered me a more spacious cabin. He put the blame for my inadequate cabin on BOLSOVER, saying that considering I paid nearly twice the cost for single passengers Bolsover should have requested a more comfortable cabin.
Overall, it was obvious that P&O had lowered their standards; the afternoon tea – a favourite of previous P&O cruisers – it failed to live up to our expectations. Some other guests complained too.
