P&O Arcadia Northern Lights Cruise Review

Cruise Date: 26th Nov 2019 – 13 days. This was a wonderful snowy pre-Christmas adventure cruise to the Arctic to see the Northern Lights. It was a great cruise which definitely delivered the cruise adventure we were looking for, as well as a magical Christmas experience.

I did not get to see the northern lights, but this was more than made up by the lovely snow and Christmas feeling we got from this cruise. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be if the sky had been clear enough to see the Northern Lights. Arcadia is a lovely ship and the staff were all so friendly.

We were fully prepared for the snowy conditions and some ice underfoot – it’s the winter in the arctic. You definitely need to pack the woolly jumper, bobble hat and snuggle coat and anti-slip ice gripper overshoes for shore excursions. We had an aft balcony cabin which was great and just the right size for 2 with plenty of storage and a good large TV with some decent films and a well stocked in cabin fridge bar. The balcony had so much snow on it that it was possible to make a snowman.

As you would expect from a cruise in the Arctic in winter the sea was a little rough at times, but this not affect my enjoyment of the cruise in a strange way it just added to the adventure. Would I recommend this cruise to a friend – yes, but be prepared and pack for the occasion!
