Issues with Arvia
Nigel pike | June 5, 2023 | P&O Cruises | Arvia
Lovely ship, very airy and spacious, nice cabin.
From day 1 we had issues regarding firstly queuing at Southampton to actually get onboard, over an hour stood outside. Once onboard the queuing issues continued in trying to get into the Zenith every night. Waited over an hour and a half the 1st evening. As we got in late for the first 6 nights to eat we missed the theatre shows which we had reserved places for. But, when we went to Zenith to try to get a table there wasn’t even a queue of people waiting so why did the app say there were 30+ people in front of us? The app was having issues as well and we could not get on it at all. If they want the app to be used it should be accessible all the time. Next was the gluten free food, ok in Zenith at night but on most of the lunch menus for Zenith there wasn’t even a gluten free dish available which was unbelievable.
Problems galore in the Horizon at lunchtime too. Hardly any choice of gluten free food at lunchtimes, when I asked the chef what my options were he pointed me to 3 Bird roast and tikka masala, both of which contained gluten according to the labels. When I queried this with the chef he told me the labels were wrong and I was ok to eat these things, did I risk it? No definitely not!! So for 10 out of the 14 days I ended up with salad!! One day I chose a desert which the label said was gluten free, however when my husband went to get a desert the label had been changed and now contained gluten?? And I had already eaten it.One day all the labels had been taken off the deserts and when I asked the man behind the counter he did not have a clue which were gluten free and which weren’t. To say this caused me a lot of needless stress is an understatement. If the labels are not to be believed and are inaccurate and the staff have no idea who am I supposed to ask? The staff should be trained up on this matter as people who eat gluten and should be gluten free usually suffer the consequences which are not pleasant and as I did on one of the days.
We have 3 further cruises booked on P & O and to be perfectly honest I would cancel them now if it wasn’t for losing our deposits. Not a good advert for P and O at all and I certainly would not recommend this ship as it is now unless they get their issues sorted out. They were well aware of the issues but did nothing to solve them.
