Bliss in the Baltics

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the Baltics, both on board and in port (other than Kiel which is not worth a visit really).

We tried Freedom Dining for the first time and actually preferred it to Club dining so have chosen it for our next cruise. The P&O staff were very helpful when we had a problem with intolerable propellor noise and vibration on the first night in the last aft cabin on C deck – they moved us into a forward cabin at 01:00h and luckily we were able to make the move permanent later that day. The entertainment was generally good, although a lot seemed geared to a slightly older generation than us and the 60s/70s fancy dress night was ignored by everyone (so we didn’t bother either despite having brought costumes). We dined in Sindu twice which was a superb experience both nights but we didn’t bother with The Glass House or Beach House. We generally did our own thing in most ports but enjoyed Fabulous Faberge, An Evening at the Ballet, and Explorer excursions in St Petersburg; and The Top of Denmark Tour in Skagen. Our favourite port was Tallinn which is easily done alone and away from the crowds. We do hope P&O sort out the numerous Crow’s Nest windows that have problems with condensation when she has her refit (which is the reason for the 4-star condition rating). Our next cruise is on Arcadia but we will definitely return to Aurora again – many thanks to Bolsover and P&O as always.
