Crusing
Michael Cheetham | October 12, 2015 | P&O Cruises | Aurora
This ship (Aurora) and Oriana are my two favourite ships large enough to ensure good entertainment in a theatre rather than a show room and small enough to be friendly and intimate. P&O has a very British feel about its ships and the staff are helpful and polite. All factors that have made P&O my preferred cruise line.
In the main this cruise was excellent, however, following the refit another theme restaurant has been added by moving the library and this has had the effect of taking out indoor public seating which is needed when bad weather is experienced. Also the Cafe Bordeaux has been replaced by a restaurant called the Glass House and a facility that the Cafe Bordeaux had which the Glass House doesn’t is a nightcap service where hot chocolate and horlicks were served after 10.30pm. This service was very popular and its replacement in the Horizon Restaurant does not have the same ambiance or quality. I also found the food quality and choice in the Alexandria Restaurant was not upto the normal high standard expected and seemed to be the result of penny pinching on food products.
One other item which irritated was to discover that the loyalty club now ignore cruising days over three years old which dropped my wife and I back to Caribbean from Baltic. This fails to recognise my loyalty to P&O having cruise for nearly a whole year in the last eight.
The last point is a disincentive be loyal to P&O, while the other points although disappointing did not impinge on the overall enjoyment of the cruise
