First two legs of world cruise
Kevin Rigg | February 21, 2017 | P&O Cruises | Aurora
I have sailed on the Aurora for many years and I am sensing a watering down of the packaged offered. The ship has now moved to plated service. I suggest this is in an attempt to reduce costs. We are told that this enables the food to be served hot. Well I have never had an issue with the food not being hot. They have introduced special dining venues I would suggest not to improve one’s dining experience but as a means to extract more money from the customer. The offer at the lido grill has been revamped such that burgers are cooked and left wrapped up on the counter. I do think this is healthy. Burgers should not be left and should be cooked to order. The fish option that has been available at this outlet in the past has been removed.
The TV channel selection leaves a lot to be desired. Why would one have a children’s TV channel when there was only one child on board. The TV guide did not reflect was was available on the TV which clearly shows it is not being checked. The same is so with the Horison today paper. So often there were errors which shows it is not being proof read.
In the past there has always been a radio program (Radio Aurora) usually on just before diner. This was not available as there was no DJ on board.
In the past there was normally two hosted sessions whilst at sea on the golf simulator. This has now been reduced to one.
It strike me that they are continually seeking to eat away at the small things which make a considerable difference to the deal on offer. I find this surprising particularly when fuel prices have halfed and I didn’t see any comment that following this reduction there would be a reduction in costs.Like most companies they are quick to introduce Fuel surcharges but less inclined to offer Fuel reduction charges
