San Francisco to Sydney
David Rock | February 8, 2018 | P&O Cruises | Aurora
Our second cruise on Aurora and seventh P & O cruise. We left San Francisco on a chilly January 25 and steamed toward Hawaii. Within two or three days the weather had warmed up and become tropical. Aurora is a very comfortable ship of perfect size…not too big, not too small. We never had a problem getting a seat in the theatre, unlike some larger ships…even Azura was difficult at times. The entertainment was spot on for the entire cruise, including some of the best comedians we have ever seen at sea. Daytime activities are definitely the best of any cruise line, except maybe equal to Cunard, and we have tried them all. (Don’t even bother with Carnival.) I especially enjoy the wonderful lecturers that P & O always seems to find. My wife really enjoyed the art classes and both of us had great fun with the Battle of the Sexes Trivia Quiz on sea days. We had a jolly group of quiz-o-phobes and the competition was inspiring.
Our balcony cabin was well appointed and we were well looked after by our steward. Highlights of the cruise were the ports of Samoa, Wellington, and Dunedin. The food in the main dining venue was fairly good, but the buffet was actually even better on some days. As I have said, we have tried all the cruise lines and P & O remains our favorite because there are so many activities and attractions to enhance the cruise.
