Appalling sound quality and volume
John Collins | December 23, 2019 | P&O Cruises | Azura
I chose a “quiet” balcony cabin on deck 9 ( D514). The P&O Ron Bridon advert “This is the life” is a joke. The open deck cinema on deck 15 was so loud that it was unpleasant to sit out on the balcony. We were offered £100 on board spend as compensation. I accepted because I simply couldn’t face a long drawn out battle for more. Money does not compensate for spoiling a holiday to celebrate a wedding anniversary. The entertainment director was powerless to remedy the sound problem as the production team was a law unto itself. How can the director of entertainment have responsibility for quality when he has no control over production? Entertainment in the Playhouse Theatre and Manhattan was also ruined by ridiculous sound volume and distortion particularly in the treble range. I feel sorry for the female vocalists in particular where otherwise good performances were ruined by these incompetent and arrogant sound mixers.
