The good was the itinerary and the friends we were with and the house band Pulse and that is where the good ends. The Horizons buffet was terrible massive queues running out of various foods and shutting one side down at the height of meal times, and when something did run out it was replaced by melon, there always seemed to be masses of melon!
The MDR was very poor the first week but did improve slightly second week due mostly to our waiters Manoj and Praveen. Why there is a need for 4 formal nights on a two-week cruise! Was beyond us. We bought a drinks package on board which isn’t cheap and it became a running joke over the fortnight how many drinks became unavailable!! The argument about supply chain problems and staff shortages is a valid one but we’ve been on two other cruise lines in the past six months and it has been nowhere near as apparent as on this ship. The ship itself is quite tired and I definitely do not recommend cabin C731 on deck 10 every time we docked and one time it was 04:30 we were almost rattled out of bed when the stern thrusters were used. There was also confusion over the amount of OBC we were due which hadn’t been communicated properly, by either Bolsover or P&O before the cruise. It seems that our military discount overrode extra OBC given when we first booked the cruise. This we only discovered once onboard. I really don’t think we’ll be gracing P&O again.
