Enjoyable cruise but some shortcomings

Having travelled to the Caribbean every January for the past 15 years, most of which were with Celebrity, we have been with P&O for the last 2 years and for ease of travel to the sun, we will not be returning to the American ships. Last year Britannia and this time we thought we would give Azura a try. We were in an overall party of 12 and we had a good time although there were some matters we felt need to be addressed. Azura is looking bit tired and we understand it is due for a re-fit before too long but this did not affect the cleanliness of the ship. Service was also good. A couple of negatives though. The food in the main dining room (Oriental) was disappointing. Each meat dish we were given the meat was tough and we asked the waiter to mention this to the chef. After several poor dishes, we avoided meat altogether for the rest of the cruise. Entertainment was also disappointing and some of the acts on the ship were not as good as we have seen on other cruises.

We do feel that the quality and choice of food seems to be better on Celebrity, which is why this overall rating has been reduced, but P&O wins every time on getting you to the Caribbean in one day and transferring your luggage from a UK airport to your cabin. No more travelling via Miami, immigration queues, overnight hotel and two days at sea before we get to the islands for us again. We do feel that Britannia has more to offer, particularly with entertainment venues e.g. Limelight Club, so next year we will return to this ship, where we had no issues at all with the food.
