Nice time on Azura

I was traveling alone on the Azura, departing 8th Feb from Barbados. I booked a single inside cabin and was very pleasantly surprised as to how spacious it was. It was only my 2nd cruise, so I was comparing it to an Aquaclass cabin on the Celebrity Equinox. Whilst it wasn’t as well appointed, it was more than adequate for my needs.
Dining – I was with a group on Freedom Dining and the main restaurant was the Meridian, which was very nice. The menu is clearly aimed at the British palette, and was a little hit and miss. Some evenings excellent, others pretty average. The Indian / British fusion specialty restaurant, Sindhu, was outstanding. I had the most delicious slow-cooked lamb shoulder. The other, Seventeen, was also superb. We went there on the evening of my brother’s wedding and had an excellent meal. The Glasshouse was also outstanding for a casual evening meal and nice bottle of wine. Buffet was standard fayre. Nowhere near as good as the Celebrity one, but ok.
Drinking – Beer was expensive in my opinion, but the wine was actually pretty good value.
Passengers – A far more friendly and approachable bunch than Celebrity.
Entertainment – Not something that particularly interests me, but the comedian was very good, as was the comedy ventriloquist.
Wedding – As stated, I was there for a wedding, and the crew and captain could not have been more accommodating. Any slight glitches or miscommunications from head office were quickly rectified with minimum fuss.
Overall – Would happily travel with P&O again, but it’s not quite as polished as Celebrity.
