October break to the Canaries
Elizabeth Holyoake | March 5, 2015 | P&O Cruises | Azura
We are frequent cruisers but this was the first time on P and O. The checking in at Southampton was efficient and considering the number of guests to be processed we only waited an hour before going on board. Unfortunately we had to go straight to muster stations and only just arrived in time to put on our life jackets. We felt rushed. The staff are extremely efficient, polite and nothing was too much trouble. The itinary of ports we were visiting was excellent and we were very impressed with the two ship tours we took in Lisbon and Vigo. We were able to “do our own thing” in the Canary Island ports. The ship arranged shuttle buses in Maderia, Tenerife and Lanzarote. Azura is a large ship, some 3000 guests but there is plenty of outside seating and areas for quiet. We had a balcony and the cabin was very well equipped. We liked having tea and coffee facilities in the cabin. The complimentary toiletries were good quality. The food is excellent and at dinner there was ample choice. We were disappointed at breakfast as the toast was so hard it was almost inedible – strong teeth were required to break it! A minor grumble for a very enjoyable two weeks holiday.
