P&O cutting corners

Most enjoyable cruise, however P&O continue to cut corners with amenities and services. We have cruised with P&O for several years, since we started cruising the ‘little things’ have been eroded but prices continue to rise. It started with the dish of sweets being removed from the cabin a few years ago and recently the turn down service with the chocolate on your pillow is now only for suite passengers. The toiletries, flannels and evening towels are now request only but they don’t tell you that. We asked the cabin steward and he brought some. The captain’s drinks party has been discontinued ( they use Covid as an excuse) instead you get a voucher for cheap fizz. The menu has been reduced at dinner and lunchtime too. Having said that, we still enjoyed the experience and had a lovely holiday. The fixation with covid masks for the crew still persists but most travellers didn’t bother. It was obvious from the majority of the crews’ reactions that they would prefer not to be wearing the masks, hopefully sooner the rules will be relaxed. The food was generally very good and the service from the staff/ waiters was excellent as always. P&Os technology is as bad as ever and unreliable, it’s time they got a major upgrade in their equipment and software, but I doubt they will spend the money ! All in all the other passengers helped make the holiday as it’s great to spend mealtimes chatting with people from all walks of life. Azura the ship itself is now 12 years old and is looking a little tired but again I don’t think P&O will lash out to bring her back to A1 condition. To sum up, crew and staff great, fellow passengers great, holiday most enjoyable. The cruise company, could do better.
