So disappointing

The good things first. Flying out from Gatwick to Malta, embarkation, disembarkation and the flight back were absolutely problem free thanks to P&O’s slick and efficient procedures. James our cabin steward was also really good and helpful. We dined at The Epicurean restaurant which was excellent.
However, this was the worst cruise we have ever been on. Azura was due for refurbishment last year but this wasn’t carried out. She is tired, old and shabby. We have done several P&O cruises and we couldn’t believe how far P &O standards have fallen in terms of decor, food quality and restaurant service. The menus in the main restaurants have been drastically reduced and are repetitive. Staff were poorly trained. Service was often slow and inefficient and people were often not served in order of arrival. Room service trays were left in cabin corridors for hours and plates and glasses were not cleared quickly from around the pool and other public areas.
Pool areas were usually very crowded and noisy with towels left on sunbeds for long periods without any body using them.
Our cabin D228 was clean but so dated, some furniture items were damaged.
Like so many people we were looking forward to this holiday so much but what a let down.
We probably won’t cruise with P&O again for a very, very long time.
