Still Good, but for how long?
Dave | October 13, 2020 | P&O Cruises | Azura
Just arrived back from 2 weeks in the Eastern Caribbean on the Azura. Our 3rd trip on that ship and our 5th visit there in the last 6 years.
To sum up – We enjoyed it and its still a great holiday but there are some warning signs there for P&O, none of which are major, but the cumulative effect is starting to make a difference.
Entertainment is getting Lazy… Reggae, Reggae, Reggae..where is the Calypso music? Too much “Hi De HI” ” Ho De Ho” from the team on deck and a bit shouty (know your audience).
The same acts, doing the same act. The exception being Tom O’Connor who I have never been a fan of but was brilliant. We love the Headliners shows but they were exactly, and I mean exactly, the same as last year. so gave most of them a miss.
Dinner. We had Freedom dining and the conversation on the tables was the same night after night. “standards are dropping”, “No Silver service” “Plated up so vegetable choice minimal” “No Vegetarian choice on the menu” “No Wine Waiter so the staff have to take drinks orders before they come back and take meal orders”. “Staff not as numerous” “Cant understand what some of them say” “Ship looking tired” (we didnt think it was that bad actually).
Pizza Grill only gives slices out now, instead of full Pizzas.
We heard from a few people that the Cabin Stewards had been given more rooms to look after although we cant fault ours at all. The word was that “all the top staff have been taken off to go on Brittania”.
The people serving drinks on board werent all up to the standard of previous years either.
Like I said, nothing major but as soon as it stops becoming Special… then there are other things ou can spend your money on.
