Winer sun
Martyn Demers | November 4, 2016 | P&O Cruises | Azura
Although cruise ships are disorienting and usually takes you the whole holiday to find your way around, P & O seem to go out of their way when designing their ships to confuse you from flowing front to rear on certain decks. For a ship carrying 3000+ customers to only provide two toilet locations for both sun decks very disappointing and go one step further to make them difficult to find due to lack of signs! Toilets in general on public decks were hard to find, if you find the ladies then sense dictates that you go to the opposite side to find the gents, no just a blank space where you would expect it to be.
Internet access, be WARNED! If you do not log out by setting up a page on your browser after you have signed up you will end up loosing what you have paid for, very expensive if you are on the 50p per minute tariff. The IT manager I found less than helpful and was possibly the only member of staff that I was not satisfied with, then he possibly spends all day dealing with people disgruntled with the Internet.
So those are my cruise disappointments, on the whole it was a very pleasant relaxing experience. The staff are very polite and helpful, with one exception. The food I found to be varied and of top quality any mistakes with the order dealt with swiftly. We tried Sindu’s Indian restaurant and the food was the best Indian food that I have tasted, no wonder his London restaurant has a Michelin star. I have a Gluten allergy and after speaking to the head waiter on the first night he gave me menus for the next day so I could chose what I wanted and the chef to prepare it in advance, never had so many sticky puddings in a long time!
Ports of call were very good giving you plenty of time ashore to do what you like. I only booked one ship excursion which was a diving package in Tortola. I Found it good value for the money I paid, provided by a first class dive operator. All other diving that I did was pre booked by myself in England and price wise it was the same so no overcharging here.
The entertainment was very good even the on board troupe were worth watching. A good variety of singers, comedians and light entertainment. The timings of the shows left a little to be desired causing a stampede from one end of the ship to the other for the next show, that’s if you did not get lost on certain decks in the process.
We enjoyed our cruise moans aside returned home very relaxed but I think my next cruise will be back with the Americans as I feel they do things just that bit better
