We booked a suite option on our recent cruise to the Canaries. We had a fabulous cabin and the service was as excellent as ever. The only exception being the Meridian restaurant which was our default freedom dining restaurant. Some staff were undertrained, service was the speed of a Chinese take away and the food options were extremely poor. There were 6 main course options 3 of which were vegetarian and always salmon and steak so in effect there was only 1 new dish per evening. Food standard was also very low, on 2 evenings my food was in edible. As a consequence we felt compelled to eat in restaurants where an extra charge was levied.
