Disappointing
Susan Beddowes | May 18, 2017 | P&O Cruises | Britannia
A cruise aboard Britannia for three of us. Ship was beautiful but like a floating Butlins. Our cabin was lovely as was the steward, Floyd, in fact he was the best thing about Britannia. The food was horrible, the best meal was fish and chips a week in. Most of the food seemed to be out of a packet or a tin. What wasn’t eaten on the day was regurgitated in some form, usually a curry, the next day. I am a vegetarian and the choices were not very good. Our designated restaurant gave six choices of meat or fish and one veggie option, when I chose to have the pork carvery dish without the pork eyebrows were raised. Staff in the Horizon dining area are not friendly and rarely speak to you although they do talk to each other. The toast is so hard there ought to be an emergency dentist on board. When my sister asked for a couple of fresh slices the ‘chef’ made her wait until he had finished stacking them in a tray before he virtually threw them at her. We were disappointed that the ‘Food Heroes’ restaurants were plugged constantly and this would incur a service charge. The sanitising of hands in restaurant and bar areas was very lax and considering how many people were on board I would have thought this was an important issue. The Crystal Room ballroom is very small and badly designed as people coming from the theatre use the dance floor as a passage way even when people are dancing. The dress code is not adhered to, casual means very casual and formal also means casual, with one chap walking through the Atrium in his vest and shorts while others were in formal dress. The places we visited were good but then we would expect that. Overall a very disappointing cruise, in fact as soon as I got home I cancelled the Caribbean Cruise I had already booked and booked another with Cunard where I have never had cause for complaint
