Don’t believe the bad reviews
Marie Bayliss | June 30, 2015 | P&O Cruises | Britannia
We returned from a week on Brittania a week ago, we sailed around Spain, France and Guernsey. Prior to sailing I was worried about all of the negative reviews of Brittania as it was our first cruise – my worries were totally unfounded as we had a fantastic time. The ship was clean, food fantastic, entertainment amazing and staff were top notch. There were lots of comments about how busy the lifts were and this was very true but only in the peak periods e.g embarkation. I also read a review about it being like Benidorm on water which really concerned me as I have never been there and have no intention of going – again yes I saw people with tattoos and people drinking beer but guess what they were lovely people having a great holiday, we met some great people who really made our cruise with some fantastic stories. Yes the buffet was busy at breakfast but we always managed to get a table and the food was plentiful. We met Eric Lanlard who gave a really interesting q&a session and we tried his afternoon tea which was truely scrumptious. At the time of booking I forgot it was half term, however again no complaints at all, the children were very well catered for and very well behaved. Yes there is no denying that she is a big ship but honestly the service to detail still made us feel very special even with 3500 other people on board. We also experienced delays waiting for the tenders and buses to shore but we expected that due to the amount of people on board it’s common sense it will take some time. I particularly enjoyed the sail always the entertainment staff were good fun and really enthusiastic, the shows in the theatre really blew my mind especially Gravity. I had a massage and which was relaxing and of good quality the only thing that let it down was the flogging of products after and the 10% service charge that was added especially as we left the tips on our account. I would recommend to anyone and hope we may sail on her again. Literally the only bad point was our motion sickness
