Maiden voyage on Brittania

We were very very Disappointed with our recent cruise on the Brittania. We were expecting a very special cruise as this was a maiden voyage. We have been on approximately 10 previous cruises all of which had been with P & O and had always been extremely satisfied with everything. However from the very start of this cruise there was one disappointment after another. We had expected the sail off to be something special but apart from a few fireworks and a small band it was just like any other sail away.
The staff in the Horizon restaurant left a lot to be desired. On more than one occasion we had to clear dirty pots off of a table so that we could eat our meal. There were plenty of wine waiters wandering about with nothing to do but no-one clearing tables. The waiters also had not been taught the importance of greeting customers with a smile and we felt that we were being a nuisance. The supervisors in the restaurant seemed oblivious of the problems occurring.
The entertainment was another sauce of disappointment as there was little to do in the daytime and the Headliners which we have always loved before were very disappointing.

There were no comfortable lounges to enjoy a drink with friends in the evening as most were very noisy and more like Butlins than a luxury Liner.
We appreciate that P &O are not responsible for the weather but the ship seems to have been designed solely to be used in the hot weather and because of the poor weather that we experienced there was nowhere to go in the daytime to get out of the cold.
On a couple of occasions the wait to get a seat in the Freedom Dining room was unacceptable and on one occasion it was nearly 10pm
before we were seated.
I could list a number of other problems but there were so many it would take too long.
We have decided however that if we do take another cruise it will not be with P &O as we were so disappointed
