Not for Us
Mr & Mrs A M McCann | August 10, 2018 | P&O Cruises | Britannia
Embarked with an open mind despite having been aware of negative reviews. However, from our first steps into the Atrium, it just didn’t have that WOW factor that the other ships in the P&O fleet have. Throughout the the cruise we felt disorientated, eg. reception situated in an obscure place, why not on a more prominent deck. Very disappointed that we were unable to access our onboard account from our cabin TV. We would have expected the system to be in place from Day 1 on this state of the art ship. The Crow’s Nest was very dark, felt as though you peering into darkness. Again, no WOW factor here unlike Azura which is brighter and has the fabulous backdrop scenery going on whilst enjoying a drink. Even our favourite Glass House was disappointing, tables not cleared of dirty glasses……usually the bar staff are doing this instantly in preparing the tables for the next customers. This was not happening. It appeared that there was probably not enough staff to the ratio of customers at this popular venue.
Not impressed with the choice of films and guest speakers, not really suitable for age group of travellers, although we enjoyed the talk with James Martin immensely.
Consider that the majority of the staff require in-depth training, particularly in customer skills, when compared with their colleagues within the P&O fleet. This is only a brief review of our negatives re Britannia cruise, there are many other factors we could add. On the positive side, our cabin (and Cabin Steward) were excellent. Great to have a glass shower screen and thought had been given to the situation of the mirror on the vanity unit in the cabin. Also, service and meals in The Oriental Restaurant were first class, always a pleasure to dine in there. We also enjoyed dining in Sindhu and Epicurean
We have travelled on other P&O ships more than once during our few years of cruising as we have enjoyed being on board them. However, we will not choose to travel on board Britannia again, we shall put it down to experience, and continue to choose another of our favourite ships in the fleet.
