Not such a great cruise
Paula massey | December 27, 2019 | P&O Cruises | Britannia
Booked on the Britannia for the maiden voyage 14th March 15 over a year ago was excited to board the ship.
Expected to be greeted by the officers with at least a glass of sparkling wine and a warm welcome but sadly not. Was treated by ” do you know where your cabin is!”
greated by a very helpful cabin stuard with a great smile into my very basic cabin. Throughout the cruise I was well looked after.
Ship is very nice but not as grand I had anticipated. unfortunately the ship had many teething problems. I was told to expect a few issues but did not expect to hear as many complaints as I did.
the ship has been designed with a beautiful grand staircase in the atrium which can be very difficult to walk down especially for the pensioners and people with disabilities. I witnessed two people loose there footing and fall down the stairs. There appears to be an issue with walking from a cream marble floor onto a navy blue carpet with the circle stairs being so wide on one side.
The reception staff were aware of the accidents and said the issue was reported to the safety team but nothing was done on the fortnight I was on board.
The ship has not been designed with any stairs mid ship which means if you want to go one or two floors you either have to find a lift or walk one end of the ship or the other. Which meant a long wait at the lifts.
The hot tubs on one of the top decks needs to have some kind wet area as the water runs down the steps straight onto the deck where again an accident happened by a lady slipping on the wet floor.
These are just some of the safety issues the Britania has as well as many other problems such as patio doors not seiled so the wind howelled into the rooms, no not water for days and the list goes on.
As lovely as the Britannia I think it should not have sailed until it was completed. The crew were still paining lines on the floor one day!!
There were a large number of engineers traveling on the ship trying to rectify the problems.
Unfortunately I travelled alone on this cruise which cost over ?2400. I would not have paid ?1000!!
P&O are a great company and I will be booking with them in the future but I will be staying well clear of the Britannia.
