Would go again

I cannot fault the service or the cruise and the ship is fine but there were a few glitches.

There seemed occasional problems with the computers because it would not accept my credit card at the start and I had to sign a separate agreement. Also one day we were delayed going on an excursion because a computer registration system was down.

I also thought there was a problem with the lifts. There might be seven lifts serving the landing but none of them seemed to be moving. By this I mean you could press all seven buttons to go up or down and it seemed an age before any one of them responded. Six seemed to stay on whatever deck they were on when you pressed the button.

The other thing that struck me was the handwashing facility particularly when you went into the Horizon restaurant.

On other ships, a member of the crew would give you a splash of disinfectant on the hands as you entered. On Britannia they have a long wash basin with three tabs dispensing water and three dispensing disinfectants. The taps were operated by an electronic eye and you had to wave your hands around to get it to activate even then the amount of disinfectant dispensed was minuscule.

Likewise, the drying facilities consisted of small paper towels which were inadequate in size and texture and disposal was by a similarly inadequate bin under the dispenser. Consequently, the deck area by the towel dispenser was usually wet and messy and required constant cleaning.

Having said that one improvement I did like was that the showers in the cabins were slightly bigger and had glass doors instead of just plastic curtains.
