A Holiday of a Lifetime!

Our two weeks on-board Ventura really were fantastic! We had never been on a cruise before and weren’t sure what to expect. We needn’t have feared. P & O really are exceptionally good at what they do: the food was of a high standard, the service was exceptionally good and the waiters/ waitresses were very friendly, our balcony de-luxe cabin was awesome and all of the public areas were very clean and tidy at all times. Our cabin steward was the icing on the cake, since he was helpful, friendly and efficient at keeping our room spotless. He even took the time to leave us some fantastic towel arrangements on our bed some evenings because he knew it was or 30th Wedding Anniversary. It really was a holiday of a lifetime and my husband and I can’t wait to get on-board again. And, even though we did have four Select dining meals (we visited the Glass House, East & The Beach House x 2), we both said that there really was no need to pay the extra money to experience this high quality food, since all of the food in all of the restaurants on-board was of a very high standard anyway. We really can’t speak highly enough of our time on-board. It was perfect!
There is one thing that I would like to mention that isn’t directly related to P & O, but might be of use for you to to know, and that is the situation with Intercruise (the coach company advertised at the back of P & O brochures). We found out far too late that the company Intercruise no longer sub-contract to the wonderfully efficient coach company called Eavesway. Thus, we were given a shabby bus and a god awful driver to take us down to Southampton by the current sub-contracted coach company on behalf of Intercruise. To cut a very long story short, we broke down just off the M25 and were stuck onboard the coach for over 3 hours. The driver never once reassured us that the ship would wait for us (we were running very late by that time) and our time at the side of the motorway resulted in the police being called, blue lights and all, to get us off the coach and deal with a toxic situation that was not resolved by Intercruise’s new sub-contracted company. It really was the most appalling service ever! Luckily, however, a God sent Eavesway driver called Martin saw our plight on his return from Southampton and waited at the back of our coach for us in order to take us to Ventura once the police had arrived. He even moved all of cases from our coach to his whilst we were stuck on-board. It is important to point out that if it hadn’t have been for this Eavesway driver we might never have got to have our dream holiday on-board Ventura, since the new Intercruise coach company did absolutely nothing to ensure that we reached our cruise ship! It is also important to point out that Martin, on behalf of Eavesway, did this out of the goodness of his own heart and was not getting paid to take us anywhere!. Also, having spoken to numerous people whilst on holiday, it seems that so many people have been dissatisfied with Intercruise’s new sub-contracting coach company that people are now booking privately with Eavesway to take them to and from Southampton and by-passing Intercruise altogether.
Thus, if you want to have a fantastic holiday, book with P & O and go on Ventura. You won’t regret it! But, for Heaven’s sake, don’t go with Intercruise if you want to get there! Book with Eavesway instead!
