An enjoyable cruise with P&O!
Sharon | October 27, 2014 | P&O Cruises | Ventura
Having previously sailed on Ventura in 2009 we enjoyed this cruise even more and I genuinely believe the ship has improved. I thought the atmosphere was better this time around and general overall standards for food and service. If I??m honest when I first sailed on Ventura I thought the service and standard of the facilities wasn??t quite as good as what I’d hoped for but this time around it felt like a different ship. The staff looked after us so much and the food was excellent. This time around it felt like a much better, all round relaxing holiday and we loved every minute of it.
I have previously travelled with both Fred Olsen and Royal Caribbean. In comparison to those two cruise lines I would say this cruise was the best. I really enjoyed my holidays with the other two cruise lines but I feel Fred Olsen’s entertainment and ideal target audience wasn??t quite right for me. I like a ship with a wide variety of entertainment options and plenty of different venues for dining. The Ventura was perfect for this as the Fred Olsen Braemar and Black Watch are smaller intimate ships that felt a little too mellow for us. As for Royal Caribbean, Independence of the Seas was great and we loved that ship but that was just a short cruise and the time we spent in the Caribbean aboard Ventura was a better holiday. The Ventura suits the Caribbean perfectly. The flights were simple and efficient and embarkation was handled very well.
I travelled with my husband and we both thoroughly enjoyed this cruise. He like myself thought the service in the Saffron Restaurant was brilliant and we both could not believe how much effort the maitre’d went to in order to find us a table for 2. He also loved the White Room and thought the food was some of the best he has had at sea. We both left the ship knowing that we would definitely cruise with P&O and on board the Ventura again.
He rated the cruise higher than previous cruises we have been on. He likes the atmosphere and Britishness of P&O Cruises and preferred the P&O way to that of other cruise lines like Fred Olsen. Fred Olsen are designed for the British but he like myself again thought the entertainment on board Ventura was much better.
All in all, a very enjoyable cruise with P&O.
