James C | November 1, 2013 | P&O Cruises | Ventura
Just returned from a cruise to the Canaries followed by Western Med, We have been on the Ventura before and will probably go again. The ship suits us in most respects although there are one or two niggles. We have found all the staff to be excellent. Our treatment of them is reflected in their treatment of us. We had freedom dining at lunchtime and Club Dining (2nd sitting) in the Bay Tree Restaurant. In Club Dining we quickly establish a rapport with the waiters, which pays dividends. In Freedom we always asked for our food to be served hot and apart from one occasion it was.
We had no complaints about the food in the restaurants but cannot comment about the Buffet which we never used. For a change we used the Beach House Restaurant twice and were happy with the food and service. We went to the Glass House Restaurant once and found the steak to be not as good as we had been served in the Main Restaurants.
Our biggest disappointment was the quality of the entertainment. Obviously it is a matter of taste. In the Arena theatre we generally arrived early to get aisle seats so that we would not disturb other people when we left early , which we did on quite a few occasions.
Our Superior deluxe Balcony Cabin was ready for refurbishment. The fridge/minibar needed replacing. The Balcony Chairs had big spots of white paint.
We met some lovely people and had a fantastic time.
