Disappointment on Ventura
Mr & Mrs B K Simmons | November 25, 2018 | P&O Cruises | Ventura
We returned from our 14 day cruise on the Ventura a week ago. I??m sorry to say that it was not a happy experience and completely different from our first time on the same ship two years ago at approximately the same time.
When we booked you led us to believe that there would not be many children on board as they had not broken up from school but in fact it was overrun by them as some schools had already finished. We appreciate that it was a family ship and we have children of our own but the problem ages were children between 7 to 12 who were left to run, unattended, around the ship and were still running along corridors at 3.30 in the morning shouting and going up and down in the lifts.
We were not told either that Riviera Deck Aft did not get any sun at all, at any time of the day, because of the overhang from the deck above. The only sun we saw was in the evening when it came through the glass. We were unable to use the sunbeds as they were reserved with towels, as early as 8.30 in the morning, despite requests from the ship??s staff and also in the Horizon magazine but P & O did not enforce the rules. Also the really loud music on the top deck and the fact that people were eating on the sunbeds and leaving dirty dishes in the lifts and up the stairs was not good.
Please pass on our concerns to P & O with a request that they should enforce the rules of towels on sun beds and especially food being carried around in the lifts and dirty dishes left on the stairs. Also the supervision of children after a certain hour as otherwise it will be just a matter of time before a tragic accident occurs and their ships will become holiday camps at sea.
If this had been our first cruise we would have been put off for life but we have not experienced this sort of behavior before. However on a positive note, the food, service, courtesy of the staff and the overall cleanliness of the ship were extremely good.
