Family cruise

We booked the cruise for my husband’s birthday and travelled with our daughters, husbands and four grandchildren. This was their first cruise and our third with P & O. We have also cruised with Cunard, Princess & Celebrity. Although the cruise was booked for all 10 our check in time was later which was disappointing but we got to wave to them on the top deck whilst in the car which the grandchildren enjoyed. Check in was quick & efficient – very impressive. Everyone was happy with cabins and we received champagne and chocolates. We had a table for 10 in the Baytree Restaurant. Food was excellent with good choices. Our waiter Cliffon and his assistant Eldon were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and the children are still talking about Cliffon. One evening my husband & I dined with the children while the Mums and Dads enjoyed a child free meal in Sindhu & for some reason many of the tables around us were empty so the waiters had time to entertain the children making animals from serviettes and doing funny drawings. They loved it.
We also had breakfast here as we found the buffet too busy and hectic. Breakfast tended to be hit and miss with service sometimes being quite slow and orders mixed up.
Two of our grandchildren took Part in the Arsenal Soccer School and enjoyed it. They also went to the children’s club a couple of times.
Just a couple of niggles I thought the staff around the pools didn’t seem very friendly and the evening entertainment for children was limited. They loved the family quiz but it was only one night and the children’ karaoke which was on twice but my grand daughter would have loved to go to a disco but our meal sitting was 6.30 and the disco was 7-8pm she had to miss it.
Having cruised many times we know nothing is perfect and but overall our celebration holiday was enjoyed by all.
