Fantastic caribbean break
Bella Kirk | June 29, 2018 | P&O Cruises | Ventura
I thought the ship has a real wow factor and was over whelmed by the variety of bars and restaurants to choose from. Each evening there was somewhere different to eat including the beach house restaurant which was one of our favourites It was just so laid back In there and the staff were very helpful. We also found that service was a lot quicker in there as opposed to the main restaurant. The choice of food was also very good. The only thing was you can??t pre book a table and it can often get quite busy at peak times. This wasn??t a problem for us though as if a table wasn??t ready then they would give you a little buzzer so we would go to the bar for a pre-dinner drink and then they would buzz you once the table was ready.
When entering the cabin I was shocked to see how big the cabin was compared to other cabins I have seen previously. Also the general attitude of staff when I first got on board was excellent I felt very happy and comfortable. I had previously read not so good reviews on Ventura but it seems since its refit it has really made a good turn around.
My impressions only got better once we got to know what was on board and where to find everything, this is mainly due to the size of the ship as I??ve been with Azamara before which is much smaller I found Ventura took some getting used to finding everything but after a few days we were fine. We never got bored any time of the day there was always something of interest to do and we went to different places most nights for different meals. We also enjoyed the variety of entertainment in an evening and thought the shows were very good. The sailaways were one of my favourite parts of the cruise, they had bands playing, people singing and it was a great atmosphere we really enjoyed that part of it and because we were in the Caribbean it was perfect watching the sun set.
My husband had a really good time and had the same options as myself really. He also said compared to a land holiday he just loved the waking up in a different destination every day he thought it was great! He also enjoyed the variation of the different dining venues and places to drink just like myself. His favourite part of the holiday was probably the sailaway parties. They were fantastic just the whole atmosphere everyone got involved. Also because we were in the Caribbean the bands would often play Caribbean music as we sailed away into the sunset it was great..
Would not hesitate to sail again on the Ventura.
