Fantastic Cruise on Ventura

Just back from Western Med cruise on Ventura which sailed on 13th July. Absolutely brilliant. Got on board only 15 minutes after dropping off car. Cabin was much larger than expected and very clean and comfortable. Food was excellent in all the venues we tried and certain meals in the Bay Tree restaurant were utterly exquisite. Staff were superb, looked after us as if we were family friends. Bar staff by the pool quickly learned our names and what we liked to drink. Cabin steward Rony was always smiling and made towel animals for the children which they thought was wonderful. Entertainment on board was superb. The Headliners theatre group put on some really quite spectacular shows. My favourite was the tribute to British films which culminated in an explosive homage to James Bond which left us breathless. Mention must also go to Steve Larkins, excellent as Freddie Mercury. I joined the Ventura vocalists and
had a wonderful time singing in the choir. Thanks to entertainment officer Andy and pianist Joe for making it so good. The children, aged 13 and 7, loved the kids clubs although with 600 children on board, it was sometimes a little difficult to get in. All the ports we called at were very interesting and always easy to get to and from the ship and leaving the ship back in Southampton was ridiculously easy and quick too. A couple of very minor niggles; photographs on board were very expensive as was wine although other drinks were pretty reasonable, not much more than pub prices ashore, and, lots of sunbed rage….why do people think that putting a towel on a sunbed at six in the morning reserves it for them until late afternoon! All in all, the best holiday we’ve ever had and we’ll certainly be cruising with P&O again when the bank balance looks healthier !
