Fine – but not up to P&O’s usual standard
Julian Roberts | November 7, 2022 | P&O Cruises | Ventura
This is the first time we have cruised on P&O, although we’ve received really good feedback from friends – specifically the Britannia. We have cruised many times before on Princess and Celebrity – both very good on each occasion.
This seven day cruise (from Southampton and travelling down to France, Portugal and Spain) was OK but no more. It certainly lacked the wow factor we’re used to – and showed many signed of cost-cutting. Two members of the crew were clear that Carnival is in trouble and P&O was suffering from a lack of investment.
The good:
– Price
– Itinerary
– Service was good on fixed dining
– The food – on formal nights only
– Sindu was still up to scratch
The not so good:
1. Internet was very flaky
2. Internet was very basic – no app or messaging
3. Service was often slow slow
4. No booking available for anytime dining
5. Staff were often less than enthusiastic
6. No water cups in the gym
8. No ship’s photographers on this trip
9. Canned music in Waterside needs updating – save your kisses for me, chirpy chirpy cheap cheap… Really??
10. Cabin service wasn’t great – only once per day and hoovering every other day
