Good but not that good

Having cruised for over 20 years, mainly with Princess Cruises, we went on Azura last year to Caribbean and thoroughly enjoyed our time on that ship, so decided to book with P & O again, to the Canaries, on Ventura. What a difference! The ship is tired, and the furniture in the cabin certainly needed replacing. There were six of us in our party and all of us, at different times, had problems with the plumbing in our cabins. Sorted immediately after raising the issues though, so cannot fault that. The dining staff as always were excellent but the same cannot be said for bar staff and waiters in the lounges. Wanted to take a drinks order as soon as they had just served us. One waitress dropped a glass on our table spilling its contents and just walked away! Made no attempt to wipe the drink up or apologise. We were left to mop it up ourselves.
We had a couple of tribute acts on during the cruise. Both acts performed in the Havana Lounge. The design of this lounge meant that unless you got your seat at least an hour before they were due to perform, you couldn’t see them. Bad decision to have visual acts on in that lounge.
All in all, we enjoyed our holiday, but Ventura didn’t live up to expectations.
