Last P&O cruise for us
Patricia Evans | November 10, 2015 | P&O Cruises | Ventura
Ventura is a beautiful ship as are the staff.
However, unfortunately, we felt the standards had slipped with P&O on this trip, we are a quiet friendly outgoing couple, and enjoy the dining experiences in the various restaurants and enjoy the bars and clubs Along with the formal nights and everything that P&O have to offer.
On this trip, we felt overwhelmed by a certain element of other cruisers, possibly first time cruisers making us feel uncomfortable.
In the night club on one of the formal nights we took our two seats and the next thing we were taken over by a group of about 12 others in casual wear shorts and t.shirts with black white joking bow ties motifs, taking the Mickey out of people like ourselves dressed formerly , we left the club feeling overwhelmed and intimidated!!.
We also noticed in the main restaurants people were allowed into dinner in shorts and T-shirt’s when dress code on the horizon leaflet clearly stated otherwise.
Every evening where we went on ship, shorts and football shirts were acceptable, it never used to be this way, we felt uncomfortable by the rowdiness and the way people were allowed to move chairs furniture at their will at the inconvenience to others.
This behaviour, was also disrespectful to the staff on board, who are always courteous and polite and quite obviously didn’t feel they could challenge some of this behaviour.
On a positive note, I was taken unwell one evening, with high blood pressure and the medical team were amazing a very positive experience although very scary they made me feel safe and got me better for the rest of the trip.
I also had a beautiful hair cut with Anawar the hairdresser in the spa again a lovely relaxing experience.
Sadly won’t be using P&O again though as we felt quite uncomfortable with the rougher element that were on this trip, such a shame, if we had been an argumentative couple, this could have caused an element of trouble, Lucky we weren’t on Britannia.
Generally, what had P&O done letting their standards slip,or was this just a one-off, whichever we won’t risk it again, shame !
